A Kampis család The Kampis Family
Page maintained by George (György) Kampis, Philosopher of Science,
Eötvös University.
My own home page is here.
The Name "Kampis"
The family comes (well, on the paternal side...you see 'family' histories
are male histories) probably
from somewhere in Western Europe, maybe the Netherlands (see: van de Kamp,
van Kampen etc; the
grammatical build of the Hungarian name is similar). I did not invent this
Dutch legend,
but have little evidence for it.
I am not aware of any Caucasians with the name Kampis outside my own family
line.
For instance, there is a well-documented Transsylvanian period in the family,
which resulted in Kampises
living in Rumania, and possibly in the US (Johnny Kampis, personal communication).
Many details are unclear yet (are all these relationships real?).
Of course there is Gabor Kampis (and fam.) in US/Canada, he was born in Budapest.
The rest of the page is mostly in Hungarian.
Ezen az oldalon azokat az adatokat kezdtem összeszedni, amelyek segitenek
eligazodni
az évtizedek során meglehetősen szétszóródott
családban.
A család több tagja is aktiv volt pl. a művészetek és
a tudományok terén.
